INTERNATIONAL CARITAS PARTNERS’ MEETING

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE NEIGHBORS OF UKRAINE

The representatives of the various Caritas partners coming from more than fourteen countries are looking for ways to help more effectively our fellow human beings who became refugees due to the war situation in Ukraine. 

After the opening speech of Most Rev. Antal SPÁNYI, President of Caritas Hungary, Norbert PÁL, Government Commissioner for assisting the refugees from Ukraine presents the challenges and opportunities in Hungary in assisting the refugees. Maria NYMAN, Secretary General of Caritas Europa gives an overview of the involvement of Caritas Europa in the care of refugees.Then Richárd ZAGYVA, Deputy Director of Caritas Hungary shares the experiences and lessons learned in the refugee activities of Caritas Hungary. Fr. Liubomyr IVANOCHKO, Director of Chernivtsi Diocesan Caritas (Caritas Ukraineexplores the ways of interacting, informing and responding collectively to the suffering of people during the war. Mila GAVRILOVA, Partnership and Program Quality Representative of the Catholic Relief Services examines the possibilities of supporting the different Centres for International Mobility.  

The conference is organized by Caritas Hungary, the official aid organization of the Catholic Church in Hungary. The organization helps those in need through the maintenance of social institutions, various aid operations, crisis intervention and long-term social programmes. Its purpose is to practice charity, rooted in the love of God, through its believers, volunteers, associates, institutions and programmes.
